Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, is a high-altitude town in the northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. It’s known for its living root bridges, made from rubber trees. To the northeast, Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point overlooks verdant gorges. In the surrounding hills, the Noh-Kalikai, Dain-Thlen and Kynrem waterfalls plunge from forested clifftops. South of town, Mawsmai Cave is illuminated to show its stalagmites.

When to visit Cherrapunji
Cherrapunji attracts heavy rainfall throughout the year. It had the greatest recorded total single-year rainfall. So you can expect rain in almost every season. But the amount of rainfall differs in different time of the year. During rainy season , i.e June to September you will have heavy rain fall here. From November to February you will have very minimum rainfall. According to me there is no good or bad time. It completely depends on the individuals preferences. If you go visit Cherrapunji during rainy season you will be able to drenched in the high altitude rain water, and enjoy the lash green nature everywhere. You will all the fountains even if its smallest one in the region in its full form. However the distant view of the landscape and nature photography is not at all possible during this time. Some times you wont be able to see more than 20 feets away. Winter is the best time to enjoy the view of the distant view of hilly region, capture a super cool photograph of the landscape. You can also enjoy trekking and several other adventure sports during this time in Cherrapunji.
